Celebrate Independence Zak! Style

Posted on June 26, 2012

No Fourth of July celebration would be complete without a healthy dose of summer fruit. And while fruit is always fun, here’s a way you can add some extra flavor to your July Fourth fruit platter, and make it a little more festive in the process.

To create the perfect Red, White and Blue fruit offering, simply melt a serving of white chocolate according to the instructions on the package.

What you’ll need:

  • Bakers white chocolate
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Red, white and blue sprinkles

Directions

  1. Wash a selection of strawberries and blueberries (raspberries, blackberries and even watermelon would work, too!).
  2. Set the berries aside to dry.
  3. Melt the white chocolate following package instructions
  4. Once the chocolate has melted, use a wooden skewer to dip the fruit into the melted white chocolate.
  5. Carefully slide the the fruit off the skewer onto a cake pan covered with wax paper.
  6. Have your children help you by sprinkling red, white and blue sprinkles onto the white chocolate as it’s cooling.
  7. Once the white chocolate has cooled completely, serve the colorful fruit to your guests and watch the fireworks begin as they bite into these festive and delicious treats.
