Leak-proof means no splashes, spills, or drips at all when the lid is closed. Put it in a bag or backpack or hold it upside-down—your drink will stay inside the bottle with no muss or mess. Just be certain that everything is securely closed and locked, as most of our water bottles are designed to allow liquid to flow for easy drinking when the lid or spout is open.
Splash-proof means your drinkware can take a little bit of action—if you hold it when walking, or put it in the cup holder while driving, the lid will prevent splashes and spills as long as it remains upright. It’s great for casual travel, but if it is tipped over or held upside-down, the contents will drip out.
To securely close a screw-on lid, place it on top of the bottle and rotate it clockwise until it stops turning. Make sure that the lid stays level as it moves and check to see that it is not sitting crookedly on top of the bottle. If the lid has a spout or cap, be sure that is closed as well to prevent leaks!
Depending on how you use your bottle or tumbler and what liquid you put inside, this is most likely a build-up caused by leaving beverages in the bottle for long periods of time, or not allowing pieces to fully dry when washed. To prevent this, do not store beverages overnight in the bottle or tumbler, and keep it clean and dry between uses.
To clean the lid, we recommend washing in the top rack of the dishwasher with the spout open (if applicable). To clean the product by hand, we recommend disassembling the product as far as you can (please be aware that some pieces are not designed to be disassembled). Soak the parts in hot, soapy water, and scrub with a sponge, using a small brush or pipe cleaner for small, hard-to-reach areas. Rinse and allow to dry completely before reassembly.
Always disassemble your lid as much as possible (please be aware that some parts are not designed to be disassembled) when cleaning, and allow excess water to drip out before leaving it to dry. Keep the pieces of the lid and bottle clean and dry between uses. Do not store parts that are not completely dry, and do not store beverages overnight in the bottle.

While the artwork on our products is designed to remain vibrant for as long as possible, normal use, including being washed in the dishwasher or rubbing against backpacks or cupholders, can cause the artwork to fade or wear. You can prolong the bright colors and vivid details of the graphics by handwashing your bottle instead of putting it in the dishwasher.
